We are looking for a Working Student Software Engineer Flutter to join our Heartbeat Tech team in Berlin, Hamburg, or Munich. The Heartbeat Tech team drives the development of our end customer app, helping users understand how they generate, store, and consume energy in their homes. You’ll get hands-on experience working at the intersection of software, hardware, and clean energy — and help build the tools that empower thousands of households across Europe.

Become a part of our mission and learn more about our Product & Tech team!

Your mission

Join our Heartbeat Tech team and help shape the digital experience of thousands of end customers using our energy management app. As a Working Student in Flutter, you will support our Engineering teams in developing features that empower users to track, understand, and optimize their home energy systems – from solar to storage and beyond.

  • App Bug Diagnosis & Fixing: Diagnose and fix bugs in our Flutter applications which are deployed on Web, Android, and iOS. You'll be using error reporting tools to identify issues and ensure a smooth user experience.

  • Test Coverage & Code Quality Management: Help us maintain high code quality standards. You'll work with tools like Codecov and DCM to increase our test coverage and ensure our codebase is clean and efficient.

  • Release Management & Pipeline Automation: Assist in preparing our applications for release. This includes automating parts of our GitHub Actions based deployment pipeline to streamline the process and get new features and fixes out to users faster.

Bonus Points for:

  • Experience in other areas of software development outside of mobile (e.g. backend, web frontend, infrastructure, etc.)

  • Experience with continuous delivery, cloud infrastructure (ideally Google Cloud) and DevOps practices

  • Experience and interest in climate tech industry

Your profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • You are currently enrolled at a university and can work up to 20 hours per week

  • You are studying a relevant subject (e.g. Business, Computer Science, Design, Energy, or similar)

  • You have experience with Flutter

  • You had first touchpoints with writing tests, managing code quality, automating release processes, and/or debugging mobile applications

  • You generally know how software systems work, how they communicate via APIs, and how they create value to users

  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy working with diverse teams

  • You work proactively, are curious to learn, and bring a hands-on mindset

  • You are confident in English (our company language); German is a plus

  • You want to make an impact and contribute to one of Europe’s most exciting climate tech companies

Benefits
  • You are part of a dynamic team with people who prove every day that they can make things happen and move companies forward with great positive impact

  • You move in flat hierarchies and have short decision-making paths. You can learn a lot quickly and get involved at different levels

  • You will be welcomed by a friendly and familiar team

  • You are part of the energy transition and recognize in your daily work what purpose it serves

  • You can work in one of our offices in Hamburg, Berlin or Munich

  • You create a healthy balance alongside your work and enjoy all the benefits of the EGYM Wellpass

  • Benefits and discounts are yours with Futurebens

  • Whether city bike or e-bike - be flexible with our job bike leasing and do something good for the environment at the same time
